About the role:
Sheridan Memorial Hospital Association (SMHA) seeks a full-time Family Medicine Physician to join our team in Plentywood, Montana. This position offers the opportunity to practice comprehensive rural medicine in a collaborative, patient-centered environment serving Sheridan County and surrounding communities.
We offer a competitive salary based on years of experience and offer productivity incentives, assist in the student loan repayment, offer CME allowance, relocation allowance, a sign on bonus, as well as additional benefits.
- Provide full-spectrum outpatient primary care for all ages in SMHA’s Rural Health Clinic.
- Participate in hospital admissions, rounding and long-term care.
- Provide Emergency Department/inpatient call coverage (minimum 5 call shifts per calendar month).
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records in accordance with state law and SMHA policies.
- Support clinical education and employee in-service programs.
- Engage in long-range service planning (equipment selection, budgeting, staffing) in collaboration with the CEO.
- Maintain effective relationships with referring providers and the broader medical community.
SMHA is a private, not-for-profit system serving Sheridan County and surrounding communities, operating a 19-bed Critical Access Hospital (including swing beds), Long-Term Care, and a full-service Rural Health Clinic. Our team includes physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants, with access to laboratory, imaging, rehabilitation, and telemedicine services. Plentywood offers a welcoming frontier community with strong schools, outdoor recreation, and easy access to regional amenities.

What We Are Looking For:
- MD/DO, Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine
- Unrestricted Montana medical license
- Active DEA and controlled substance registrations
- Eligibility for and maintenance of Active Professional Staff Privileges at SMHA
- Commitment to AAFP standards of professional conduct and rural community care
- Residence within 20 minutes of SMHA during employment; ability to remain within 20 minutes while on call
- Demonstrate leadership experience and ability to supervise APP’s and lead quality initiatives
