The Service & Team
Based within our Best Start in Life Family Hubs and under the line management of the Area Family Hub Coordinators, Navigators will be part of, and contribute to the Early Support offer. Through partnership working with health, education, social care, and voluntary sector services, the team aims to improve outcomes for children and families, reduce barriers to learning and development, and ensure every child has the best start in life.
The Role
The postholder will help families navigate services including Best Start in Life, child and family health, infant feeding, parenting support, early years, Early Support, emotional wellbeing, voluntary and community sector provision, education, employment and training advice. The role will strengthen the Family Hub principles of access, connection and relationships by reducing barriers, improving service coordination and supporting families to feel informed, listened to and confident to engage. The role holder will work closely with professionals across the Best Start in Life, Family Hub and Healthy Babies offer, Health, Early Years and education professionals, the Inclusion and SEND service and the Voluntary and Community sector to ensure effective, proactive support to families. The role holder will be on the front line of communication, arranging face-to-face meetings with families. They will meet families through inclusive practice, activities and universal services along with more targeted support services. In liaison with colleagues across a wide range of services this role holder will ensure the information and advice is accurate and kept up to date and will source where appropriate and available, distribute any leaflets, documents, links, numbers to services, activities and opportunities as required. This will also include communicating with families and services with regard to follow ups, enquiries, actioning calls and email enquires as one of the first point of contact along with any other appropriate duties as requested by your line manager.

This is a fixed term position for 2 years, roles are available across the West, Mid and East Family Hubs with full and part time positions available, full time would work across 2 hubs in a geographical area.
This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.
This position will be subject to an enhanced criminal record disclosure check.
Working Pattern
18.5 hours per week Mon-Fri
What you’ll need to succeed
- Level 3 qualification or equivalent in child development or relevant field
- Knowledge of child development, inclusion, and SEND within the early years.
- Experience of working with children and their families.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and multi-agency working skills.
- Ability to provide advice, coaching, and practical support to practitioners and parents.
- Understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), SEND legislation, and family-centred approaches.
