Family Practitioner – Support Worker (Family Assessment)

The Role: Support Worker (Family Assessment)
Your responsibilities include:
- Conducting family assessments to help build safe, nurturing environments
- Safeguarding children and parents through ongoing assessments and multi-agency planning
- Developing trusting, supportive relationships with families for sustainable growth
- Supporting parents to achieve parenting at least a “good enough standard”
- Providing daily support, crisis intervention, and parenting skill development
- Mentoring and advising parents to foster long-term stability, confidence, and resilience
- Monitoring parent-child interactions to encourage positive attachment and secure bonding
- Leading family-centred activities designed to strengthen relationships and promote behaviour change
- Maintaining clear, detailed records of assessments, observations, and plans
- Advocating for families, collaborating with community resources, schools, health services, and other professionals
- Working within a dynamic, emotionally demanding environment, requiring adaptability and emotional intelligence
- Addressing challenges with resilience, maintaining a child-first focus at all times

Requirements & Ideal Candidate
We’re looking for a dedicated individual committed to making a difference in families’ lives. Key attributes include:
- Desirable: Level 3 Children & Young People’s Workforce Diploma (full training provided if applicable)
- Experience in residential orfamily-based support environments, as family support lip (support or tailored work)
- A genuine passion for helping and supporting others
- Strong verbal and written communication, with excellent literacy
- Patient, empathetic, and emotionally astute, able to navigate the complexities of family dynamics
- Safeguarding champion with a non-negotiable focus on child welfare and security in the home
- Nurturing and supportive, with mentoring and coaching skills
- Self-driven, with resilience and adaptability to shift in priorities and demands
- Interpersonal expertise to build trust with children, parents, and professionals across sectors
- Ability to stay calm under pressure, ensure confidentiality, and maintain professional standards
