The Indigenous Primary Health and Wellness Home (IPHWH) is seeking compassionate and collaborative Family Physicians to provide primary care services within our Indigenous health clinics. This is an opportunity to practice medicine in a supportive interdisciplinary environment while helping improve access to culturally safe healthcare for Indigenous Peoples living throughout the Fraser Health region.
About The Role
Physicians will provide comprehensive longitudinal primary care for Indigenous clients in partnership with an interdisciplinary team that will include Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Medical Office Assistants, Indigenous Patient Navigators, social work, clinical counsellors, Elders, and community partners.
Flexible scheduling is available, with opportunities to work one or more sessionals per week. We have permanent and temporary positions.
What You’ll Do
- Provide comprehensive family medicine across the lifespan
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic health conditions
- Deliver preventative care, screening, and health promotion
- Build trusting, long-term therapeutic relationships with clients
- Work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary Indigenous health team
- Participate in case conferencing and coordinated care planning
- Support patients experiencing complex medical and social needs
- Contribute to a welcoming, culturally safe, trauma-informed clinical environment
- Respect and support Indigenous self-determination in healthcare delivery

We are Looking for Physicians Who
- Hold licensure (or are eligible for licensure) with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.
- Are certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada or equivalent.
- Value relationship-based, patient-centered care
- Have experience- or a strong interest-in Indigenous health.
- Understand or are committed to learning about the impacts of colonization, residential schools, and intergenerational trauma and health.
- Practice cultural humility and cultural safety
- Enjoy working collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams
- Are flexible, compassionate, and committed to reducing barriers to healthcare
