šŸ‘‹ About Us

amicable has helped tens of thousands of people separate in a kinder, fairer and more affordable way – working with couples rather than taking sides. We're now building [amicable Legal], a new tech-forward law firm that will offer regulated legal advice and representation in an innovative way to people for whom the amicable negotiation services are, for whatever reason, not suited.

You'd be one of the first solicitors in a new firm with real ambition and the backing of an established group behind it. You'll have a genuine say in how we work, the tools we use and the service we build – not a seat in a machine that's already set in its ways.

We are proud to be part of the Octopus Group.

šŸ’¼ About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Family Solicitor to join us at the beginning and help build amicable Legal.

You'll be running cases from day one, but you'll also be helping us work out how the firm should operate, what we automate, what we don't, which processes are genuinely useful and which bits of traditional family law practice we can do better.

You'll run your own caseload of family matters, from the first meeting through to settlement or final hearing, with the freedom and the support to drive each case forward. You'll work directly with customers and counsel, attend hearings and meetings on your own, and help us design how a modern family law firm should run.

This role is hybrid working from our London office.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

šŸ”„ Key Responsibilities

As a Family Solicitor, you will:

  • Manage a varied caseload end-to-end - Lead family matters from initial consultation through to settlement.
  • Work directly with customers and counsel - Build strong relationships, provide clear guidance, and attend hearings and meetings independently.
  • Shape a new, tech-driven legal model - Contribute to the development of systems, tools and processes that redefine how family law is delivered.
  • Drive cases forward with autonomy - Make informed decisions with the freedom and support to act in clients’ best interests.
  • Help define the future of family law - Play a key role in building a modern, accessible and customer-centred family law firm.

😊 About You

At least 6 years' PQE in family law, strong financial remedy experience is essential, alongside private children work. You need to be comfortable running your own caseload across both.

You run your own cases with minimal supervision, you'll be dealing directly with clients and counsel and attending hearings and meetings yourself. We're a small team, so you need to be equally comfortable getting on with things yourself and working closely with others.

Good understanding of technology, ideally, you're the person in your current firm who actually works out the case management system, builds the spreadsheet or writes the automation everyone else then uses. You're comfortable using AI, but sceptical enough to know when it's producing plausible nonsense.

A real appetite for running cases differently, you'll be testing and shaping our technology and we expect you to have opinions about it. You'll spot ways to improve how we run cases and, sometimes, you'll just go and implement them. If you fundamentally believe the way you've always run a financial remedy case is the way it should always be run, this probably isn't the job for you.

Comfortable with ambiguity and a changing job, not every process or system will be in place when you arrive. Sometimes you'll be the person creating it. One day you'll be deep in a complex financial remedy case; the next you might be testing a tool, rewriting a template or sitting with the product team.

ā›³ļø Compensation, Perks & Benefits

  • Salary: Full time: Ā£55,000 - Ā£70,000 per annum depending on skills, experience, qualifications and location
  • Private Health Insurance
  • Group Life Assurance
  • Flexible working schedule - you will have to be available for team meetings each week and to liaise with internal colleagues and service customers during core working hours, otherwise it's a flexible schedule. We trust you to get the work done.
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • 28 days holiday plus bank holidays per annum
  • Electric Vehicle Scheme
  • Cycle to Work Scheme

A note on timing: [amicable Legal's] application to the Solicitors Regulation Authority has been submitted and is pending acceptance. The firm isn't yet authorised, so this role is offered subject to that authorisation being granted. We're recruiting now so we're ready to go as soon as we can.

We respect and value people’s differences and believe that our teams are at their best when their members feel safe to bring their whole self to work. We are committed to creating an inclusive experience as well as equal opportunities for growth and development for all.
