Role Description
The Family Solicitor will manage a caseload of family law matters, including divorce, separation, financial remedies, and child custody arrangements, providing clear, empathetic advice to clients.

Responsibilities

- Drafting and reviewing legal documents
- Preparing court bundles
- Negotiating settlements
- Representing clients at hearings and conferences
- Working closely with colleagues and external professionals to support collaborative law processes and seek out-of-court resolutions where appropriate
- Maintaining accurate file management
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory and firm standards
- Contributing to the development of family law services within the practice
This is a full-time, on-site position based in Sunderland, requiring regular client meetings at the office and occasionally at external locations.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Law, with qualification as a Solicitor or equivalent and a current practicing certificate.
- Demonstrated expertise in Family Law, including divorce, separation, financial settlements, and child arrangements.
- Awareness of Conveyancing and Commercial Real Estate to collaborate effectively with other teams when family matters overlap with property issues.
- Excellent client care, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to handle sensitive matters confidentially and professionally.
- Proven ability to manage a busy caseload, meet deadlines, and work effectively within a team-oriented, on-site environment.
- Experience in advocacy and representation in family courts; collaborative law training or mediation experience is an advantage.
- Familiarity with legal case management systems, strong attention to detail, and commitment to continuing professional development.
