About the Opportunity
Yolk Legal is supporting a well-established and growing law firm with the appointment of a Family Solicitor to join its busy Family Law team in Gloucestershire. The role has a particular focus on public law children matters and care proceedings, offering the opportunity to work on complex and sensitive cases involving vulnerable clients.
You will represent parents, children and other parties involved in care proceedings, taking responsibility for your own caseload and working closely with colleagues, Counsel, local authorities, CAFCASS and other professionals.

The Role
You will manage your own caseload of public law children matters, providing high-quality legal advice and progressing cases from initial instruction through to final hearing.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing a caseload focused on care proceedings and public law children matters.
- Representing clients throughout Family Court proceedings, including case management hearings, interim applications and contested final hearings.
- Advising clients on child protection law, local authority intervention and Children Act 1989 threshold issues.
- Preparing and drafting statements, position statements, court bundles and other legal documentation.
- Undertaking advocacy in the Family Court.
- Working closely with Counsel, CAFCASS, local authorities and other professionals to progress matters.
- Ensuring compliance with Legal Aid Agency requirements, regulatory standards and best practice.
- Maintaining high standards of client care and file management.
- Supporting the wider team through supervision where appropriate.
- Contributing to business development activity and the continued development of the team.

About You
We are looking for a Family Solicitor with a minimum of 2 years' PQE and experience in public law children work.
You will ideally have:
- At least 2 years' PQE within a Family department.
- Experience of care proceedings and Legal Aid.
- Strong knowledge of public law children matters.
- Experience of advocacy within the Family Court.
- Experience of supervision, or an interest in taking on supervisory responsibility.
- Good knowledge of data management systems and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to deal sensitively and professionally with vulnerable clients.
- Strong organisational and self-management skills.
- An interest in business development.
Experience of Private Divorce and Finance would be advantageous, as would relevant panel membership.
