Family Solicitor (NQ to 3 Years PQE), North West | Leading UK Law Firm
I'm recruiting a Family Solicitor for a well-regarded national law firm to help grow its Family Law practice in the North West.
About the firm and team
My client's Family Team covers the whole of the UK, with people in Scotland, London, the Midlands, the North West and the North East. It is ranked in both the Legal 500 and Chambers, and several of its Partners are named "Leading Individuals" in their field. The team offers a personal, transparent and efficient service, and includes lawyers qualified in both English and Scots law, along with trained Collaborative Lawyers and Mediators. The firm is a member of Resolution and Consensus, and its clients include private individuals and public bodies.
The opportunity
You'll report directly to the Head of Department and play a real part in building the North West practice while delivering excellent client service. This is a good move for a junior lawyer who wants early responsibility, strong supervision and a clear path to developing their own client base.

What you'll be doing
- Running your own caseload of private client work, with appropriate supervision
- Supporting colleagues across the team and wider department on their matters
- Advising clients and taking instructions on financial matters, children cases, domestic abuse, pre-nups and cohabitation agreements
- Attending court on clients' behalf
- Preparing correspondence, notes and court paperwork
- Helping market the team's services and contributing to business development
- Meeting financial targets and KPIs, and keeping to deadlines and quality standards
- Following firm policies and procedures and working in line with the firm's values
The role may also include other duties within the wider remit.

Who my client is looking for
- NQ to 3 years PQE, with a genuine and demonstrable interest in family law
- Broad experience across family law, including children and financial cases (high-value or complex cases for high net worth individuals would be a plus)
- Experience preparing cases for the Sheriff Court and Court of Session
- Business development skills; an existing network of contacts would be a real advantage
- Good IT skills and strong communication skills
- Good time management and organisation, and the ability to multi-task, prioritise and work to strict deadlines and targets
- Comfortable working both as part of a team and on your own initiative, with a flexible approach
