Family Solicitor
We are looking for a Family Solicitor with 2–3 years’ post-qualification experience to join our Family team. You will manage a varied caseload of family law matters and provide clear, pragmatic and compassionate advice to clients during, what can often be, sensitive and challenging circumstances.
This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor who is ready to take greater ownership of matters, build strong client relationships, and contribute to the continued development of a supportive and collaborative team.
The role
Working closely with colleagues across the Family team, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day conduct of your matters, deliver high-quality legal advice, and contribute to business development and the wider success of the team.
Key responsibilities
- Managing a varied caseload of family law matters, which may include divorce and separation, financial remedy, private children matters, cohabitation and related issues.
- Advising clients clearly and sensitively, setting realistic expectations and maintaining regular communication throughout each matter.
- Drafting and reviewing correspondence, court applications, witness statements, agreements, and other legal documents.
- Conducting advocacy where appropriate and instructing and liaising with counsel, experts, courts and other third parties.
- Managing files, deadlines, costs information and matter updates in accordance with regulatory requirements and firm procedures.
- Meeting agreed financial, time-recording and matter-management expectations.
- Contributing to business development, networking, marketing and knowledge-sharing activities within the team and wider firm.
- Supporting and working collaboratively with colleagues, including providing guidance to junior team members where appropriate.
- Handling confidential and sensitive information with care, discretion and professionalism.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
