Family Law Solicitor NQ - 1 PQE

Location: South London

Salary: £30,000 - £40,000

We have a fantastic opportunity with a well-established law firm looking to appoint a Family Solicitor at NQ–1 PQE to join their busy Family Law team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified or recently qualified solicitor looking to develop their career in public and private children law. You will work alongside experienced legal professionals and gain exposure to a varied caseload, including childcare proceedings, Public Law Outline (PLO) matters and private children disputes.

Typical Duties Include:

  • Managing a varied caseload of public and private children law matters
  • Assisting and representing clients in care and childcare proceedings
  • Handling Public Law Outline (PLO) matters
  • Advising parents and other clients in relation to children law proceedings
  • Dealing with private children matters, including child arrangements and parental responsibility
  • Preparing correspondence, statements, applications, court forms and other legal documentation
  • Liaising with clients, local authorities, barristers, opposing solicitors and the court
  • Attending court hearings and supporting clients throughout proceedings
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date client files
  • Handling confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion

The Successful Candidate Will Have:

  • A qualified solicitor in England & Wales, either newly qualified or with up to 1 year PQE
  • Experience gained during a training contract or previous role within children/family law
  • Ideally, exposure to public law childcare proceedings, PLO and/or private children matters
  • Excellent client care skills, with a sensitive and empathetic approach
  • Strong drafting and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage a busy caseload and meet deadlines
  • The ability to deal confidently and professionally with vulnerable clients and sensitive issues
  • A genuine interest in developing a long-term career within children law
