Family Solicitor - 2+ Years PQE

About The Opportunity

We are supporting a well-established specialist family law firm with an excellent local reputation in the appointment of a Family Solicitor with at least 2 years' PQE.

The firm has specialised exclusively in privately funded family law matters for over 25 years, with a strong client base generated through repeat instructions and recommendations.

This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor looking to develop their expertise within a specialist and highly regarded family team.

About You

You will ideally have:

  • Minimum 2 years' PQE in Family Law
  • Strong experience handling privately funded family matters
  • Good knowledge of financial and children-related family proceedings
  • Strong organisational and client management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines
  • Commercial awareness, including billing, recovery and performance targets
  • Good IT skills
  • Experience using the HMCTS Court Portal, Practical Law and Westlaw
  • Confidence in advocacy and conducting client matters
  • An interest in business development and contributing to marketing initiatives

Key Experience

Financial Remedy & Divorce Matters

Experience In Areas Including:

  • Financial proceedings on divorce and separation
  • Pension issues and Pension Advisory Group (PAG) guidance
  • Part 25 applications, including pension, forensic accountant and surveyor instructions
  • Maintenance Pending Suit and interim maintenance applications
  • Section 31 variation applications
  • Legal Costs Orders under Section 22ZA
  • Financial disclosure and pre-application protocol requirements
  • Section 37 financial injunctions
  • Divorce procedure
  • Advocacy at FDA, FDR and interim hearings
  • Briefing and working with Counsel
  • Interlocutory applications
  • Preparing court bundles under Part 27A
  • Drafting Directions and Final Orders, ES1/ES2, statements of issues, case summaries, position statements and skeleton arguments
  • Preparing witness statements, affidavits and statements of truth
  • Pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements

Children Act & Private Children Matters

Experience In:

  • Schedule 1 Children Act applications
  • Private law Children Act proceedings
  • Pre-application requirements, negotiation and dispute resolution
  • FHDRA and DRA advocacy
  • Child relocation applications
  • Urgent applications, including Specific Issue and Prohibited Steps Orders
  • Live With and Spend Time With applications
  • CAFCASS procedures and reports
  • Welfare checklist and relevant case law
  • Drafting interim and final orders
  • Case summaries, position statements and witness statements
  • Expert directions, including blood and hair-strand testing
  • Preparing Part 27A court bundles
  • Briefing Counsel
  • Advocacy at straightforward final hearings would be advantageous

Separation, Cohabitation & TOLATA

Experience Or Knowledge Of:

  • Separation agreements
  • Cohabitation/Living Together agreements
  • Financial disclosure requirements
  • TOLATA matters

Family Law Act & Domestic Abuse

Experience Dealing With:

  • Non-Molestation Orders
  • Emergency applications
  • Making and defending applications
  • Drafting applications, orders and undertakings
  • Interim advocacy
  • Final hearing advocacy would be advantageous
  • Briefing Counsel where appropriate

Working Arrangements

This is primarily an office-based position. While there is no formal hybrid working policy, occasional home working may be considered once you are fully established within the team and familiar with the firm's clients, systems and procedures.
