Company Description
Home-Start Central Lancashire is a family support charity based in Chorley, working with families who have at least one child under eleven across West Lancashire, Chorley, South Ribble, and Greater Preston. The charity focuses on early and post-intervention home-visiting support to help families manage challenges before they escalate. Support is tailored to each household, providing compassionate, confidential, and practical assistance. At the core of the model is a network of trained home-visiting volunteers who provide expert family support. The organisation values inclusive, non-judgmental services that strengthen family resilience and well-being.
Role Description
The Family Support Coordinator is a part-time, on-site role based in Chorley, responsible for coordinating and delivering high-quality family support services. Day-to-day tasks include assessing family needs, planning appropriate support interventions, and matching families with suitable home-visiting volunteers.

The coordinator will:

- Supervise and guide volunteers
- Provide ongoing case management
- Maintain accurate records and reports
- Liaise with local agencies and community services
- Facilitate referrals
- Help families access relevant resources
- Help monitor outcomes
- Support safeguarding processes
- Participate in team meetings and training activities
Skill Requirements
- Experience in family support, social work, counselling, or a related field, with strong skills in family assessment, case management, and coordination of services.
- Ability to build trust with families from diverse backgrounds, demonstrating strong interpersonal communication, empathy, and a non-judgmental approach.
- Skills in organising, prioritising, and maintaining accurate documentation, including digital literacy for case records and reporting.
- Experience working with or supervising volunteers, including providing guidance, support, and feedback.
- Knowledge of safeguarding principles and local community resources, with the ability to follow relevant policies and procedures.
- Relevant education or training in social care, early years, community work, or a similar discipline is advantageous.
- Ability to work across Central Lancashire, collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
