Job Title: Family Support Worker
Salary: £26,414 - £28,225 per annum (pro rata)

About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed person to join our team as a permanent Family Support Worker in the Children with Disabilities Team which is part of the All Age Disability Service in Worcestershire. We are looking for a dynamic and creative person who is passionate about disability and making a difference in children’s lives.
You would be joining a small and friendly team of Family Support Workers and Social Workers who work with families to promote the best outcomes for children with additional needs. The team work with children aged 0-16 with a range of complex disabilities and health needs. We work in a multi-disciplinary way to ensure children and families receive the right support at the right time.
Responsibilities
This is an exciting role, which is essential for our service and comprises of two main parts. Firstly, you will be taking referrals from our social work team to undertake specific pieces of bespoke family support work. You will be empowering parents and carers in areas such as communication, routines, boundaries and developing their confidence in parenting/caring their child with additional needs.
Secondly, you will hold a case load of children who are open to the team under a Short Breaks Plan. These children have a settled shortbreaks support package in place and you will complete a review every 6 months to ensure their support package continues to meet their disability needs. As part of the review process, you will also identify any family support work that may be needed and have the autonomy to carry this out and shape the plan making a real difference in children’s lives.

You will also be required to support a drop-in service on a rota basis to provide the wider children’s services disability specific advice and guidance.
Requirements
We are looking for a creative person, skilled in working with children with additional needs and an understanding of how this impacts on them and their families. You will be able to work directly with parents/carers being supportive and also instructive. Communication skills are essential, being able to take a diverse and bespoke approach for each individual child. You will be supported to develop your skills, have access to direct work tools and support from colleagues.
The post is based in the south team working across the south of the county, however there may also be a requirement at times to cover work in the south of the county as well as working with children who are placed outside of Worcestershire.
About the All Age Disability Service
The All-Age Disability Service is an exciting service which brings together the Special Educational Needs Department (SEND), Children with Disabilities Team (0-16) and the Young Adults Team (16-25). Whilst you would retain your specialism within your team being part of this service will provide you with a great opportunity to work in a more integrated and multi-agency way.
The purpose of the All Age Disability Service is to improve the experiences and outcomes of those children and young people with disabilities and special educational needs aged 0-25 by having support and coordination of a joined-up offer.
Being part of the All-Age Disability service you would have opportunity to work closer with SEND and Adult Services to provide children and families with a more informed and joined up approach. You would also be part of regular service days and there are many learning opportunities across the teams.
