About the Role
Family Support Workers
The Hanley and Upton Educational Trust is seeking to appoint two Family Support Workers to work across Hanley Castle High School and our partner primary schools. This is a unique opportunity to provide early, practical, and relational support to vulnerable children and their families, helping to improve attendance, strengthen engagement, and ensure children are safe, in school, and able to learn.
Responsibilities
- Provide early, practical, and relational support to vulnerable children and their families
- Help improve attendance, strengthen engagement, and ensure children are safe, in school, and able to learn
- Build trusting relationships with children and families
- Remain calm and non-judgemental in challenging situations
- Work collaboratively with partner agencies
- Help families overcome barriers that affect children's wellbeing, attendance, and engagement with school
Requirements
- Compassionate, resilient, and highly organised
- Experience of working directly with children, young people, and families
- Relevant Level 3 qualification (or above) in a related field
- Strong safeguarding knowledge
- Effective record-keeping
- Excellent communication skills
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle

Working Hours
- 35 hours per week, term-time only plus 8 Professional Development Days (PDD’s)
Terms
- Fixed-term position for two years in the first instance funded through a time-limited funding allocation, with the potential for continuation subject to future funding arrangements
Salary
- Scale 6, SCP18 – 22, £32,578 - £34,811 FTE. Pro-rated to £26,471 - £28,286 per annum.
