3 months contract with a local authority
Rate: £18 per hour umbrella
This is a predominantly office-based role, 5 days per week. Some flexibility may be available; however, this is not a home-working position and requires regular on-site attendance.
Summary
The Family Support Worker will join the DAAT Team on a 3-month contract with a local authority, earning £18 per hour under an umbrella arrangement. This role is crucial in providing practical and targeted support to children, families, and parents to enhance outcomes and promote family stability. The position requires close collaboration with Social Workers to deliver direct interventions, support parenting capacity, and assist families in overcoming challenges such as budgeting, domestic abuse, and fostering healthy relationships. This is a predominantly office-based role, requiring regular on-site attendance five days a week, with some flexibility available.

Responsibilities
- Support Social Workers in implementing interventions and family support plans.
- Conduct direct work with parents and carers to enhance parenting skills and family functioning.
- Offer practical advice and guidance on budgeting, household management, and financial wellbeing.
- Assist families affected by domestic abuse and promote healthy relationship awareness.
- Facilitate and supervise family time sessions as needed.
- Participate in duty functions and respond appropriately to family support needs.
- Attend child-focused meetings, reviews, and multi-agency forums.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with families and partner agencies.
Requirements:
- Experience working directly with children, young people, and families in social care, family support, or safeguarding settings.
- Experience in supporting parents with parenting strategies and family-based interventions.
- Knowledge of issues affecting vulnerable families, including domestic abuse, financial hardship, and relationship difficulties.
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Health & Social Care, Children and Young People, Family Support, or a related field.
- Relevant safeguarding training or willingness to undertake training.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (desirable).

Additional Information
- Working hours are 37 hours per week, with a bi-weekly payment schedule.
- Enhanced DBS with barred list
- The role is office-based five days a week, with limited flexibility for home working.
