Role description
Hours: 10 hours a week, usually two five-hour days on Tuesday and Thursday
Salary: £13.49 to £14.50 an hour, depending on experience (£7,014.80 to £7,540 a year actual)
Contract: Permanent, subject to continued funding; funding is currently secured for at least three years
Location: CLASP's Crewe office, with work across Cheshire East and occasional travel further afield
Responsible to: Chief Executive Officer
About the role
At CLASP, we know the right support at the right time can make a real difference. Our Family Support Worker will work alongside the Parent Lead, sharing a small caseload and offering tailored one-to-one support to lone parents. It is a varied, practical role that will also help bring our groups, workshops and family activities to life.

Main responsibilities
- Share an agreed caseload with the Parent Lead and offer tailored one-to-one support to lone parents.
- Help parents identify what matters to them, build confidence and take practical next steps.
- Offer information, make appropriate referrals and stand alongside parents when advocacy is needed.
- Help plan and facilitate Coffee and Chat, life-skills workshops, a monthly mums and tots group and school-holiday family activities.
- Prepare sessions, manage bookings and attendance, and gather feedback.
- Maintain clear, confidential case notes and outcome records.
- Recognise and report safeguarding concerns and follow CLASP policies and professional boundaries.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and relevant external services.

Training and support
You will not be expected to arrive knowing everything. We will provide a full induction, safeguarding and first-aid training, and time to shadow the Parent Lead. You will continue to work alongside them and receive regular supervision and support.
