Farm Administrator
An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Farm Administrator to join our busy team and provide administrative and business support to the Agriculture & Environment consultants in our Cambridge office. In this role, you will help deliver farm management, contract farming and environmental services to a portfolio of client farming businesses and estates.
We are looking for enthusiastic, proactive candidates who have strong attention to detail, a numerical mind and an interest in farming, that can work well with colleagues and clients at all levels. We are open to considering full-time or part-time options for this role.
What you’ll be doing
- Farm business administration
- Prepare and maintain farm and cropping records and collate sales information.
- Use account software to extract and interpret financial data for performance analysis.
- Process supplier invoices and help prepare/update budgets, cash flows and forecasts.
- Liaise with clients, contractors and suppliers.
- Prepare meeting packs as well as take and circulate minutes.
- Support applications and claims for farming schemes and grants, keeping track of deadlines, payments and relevant policy changes.
- Help maintain compliance records and develop knowledge of key farming and environmental schemes.
- Prepare and maintain farming agreements, licences and tenancies, ensuring key renewal and termination dates are effectively managed.
- Support senior consultants in providing management and strategic advice to farming and contracting businesses, including business plans and reports.
- Arrange and attend farm visits and client meetings, providing follow-up support and correspondence.
- Data management: Help capture and manage farm business data and produce reports for clients and consultants.
- Work in line with company standards, best practice and relevant legislation, maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
- Maintain your professional and technical knowledge through ongoing development and share knowledge and best practice with colleagues.

About you
- Have an interest in or understanding of agriculture, land management or the rural economy.
- Strong administration skills. Any experience specifically in a similar farm or estate administration role or within a rural consultancy would be an advantage, but not essential.
- Good numeracy, with confidence working on budgets, invoices and financial data.
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Clear and confident written and verbal communication, including a professional telephone manner.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, stay calm under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Self-motivated, able to use their own initiative, and willing to take on new challenges.
- A positive, flexible team player
- Experience of introducing new ways of working to improve efficiency.
- Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Familiarity with farm management and accounting software such as Farmplan Gatekeeper, Muddy Boots, Greentree and Key Prime would be a bonus.
- Any knowledge or experience of the Rural Payments service or agri-environment schemes would be useful but not essential.
- Full UK driving licence and own car.
