Role Overview
As part of the PDM Team, the Farm Engineer will report directly to the Workshop Manager and be responsible for supporting the servicing, maintenance, and repair of farm machinery and equipment across the business.
This is a varied, hands-on role involving both workshop-based activities and field repairs, helping to ensure machinery remains safe, reliable, and operational to support farming activities. Agricultural experience is desirable but not essential, as training and support can be provided.
Principal Duties
- Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs to vehicles, machinery, and equipment.
- Inspect machinery and equipment, identify faults, and undertake preventative maintenance to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Replace oils, lubricants, filters, worn components, and other service items as required.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults, including hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems where appropriate.
- Assist with seasonal overhauls, machinery modifications, and workshop projects.
- Transfer equipment and attachments between vehicles and machinery as required.
- Carry out field-based repairs and respond to machinery breakdowns when necessary.
- Complete maintenance and repair records accurately and in a timely manner.
- Escalate complex issues to the Workshop Manager where appropriate.
- Maintain safe and efficient working practices in both workshop and field environments.

- Complete work assigned by the Workshop Manager to a high standard.
- Support the efficient day-to-day operation of the workshop.
- Help identify practical improvements to equipment, processes, and ways of working.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organised working environment.
- Adhere to all Health and Safety policies, procedures, and safe working practices.
- Use equipment, machinery, tools, and PPE safely and report any hazards or defects.
- Work closely with colleagues across the business and support the wider team when needed.
- Take pride in delivering high standards of workmanship and communication.
- Be a reliable and supportive member of the team, willing to help others when required.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties consistent with the role.
