Chef – Join Our Growing Farm Shop & Café Team

Exe Valley Farm Shop & Ruby Red Café is a family-run business with a real passion for great food, local produce and supporting the farm-to-fork journey.

Our busy café is growing, and we’re looking for a passionate, enthusiastic Chef to join our friendly kitchen team and become part of the next stage of our business.

We are lucky to have some fantastic ingredients on our doorstep, including our own home-reared Ruby Red Devon beef and locally sourced produce, and we want someone who is excited about turning great ingredients into delicious food.

The Opportunity

This is more than just a job in a kitchen. We’re looking for someone who wants to bring ideas, get creative and help us develop our café menu.

  • Work with fresh, seasonal and local ingredients
  • Create new dishes
  • Be involved in catering for events and special occasions as the business continues to grow

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Preparing and cooking fresh, homemade food to a high standard
  • Creating delicious seasonal dishes using local produce and our own home-reared meat
  • Bringing your own ideas and creativity to our menus
  • Helping develop and improve our food offering
  • Preparing food for our busy café, events and functions
  • Keeping the kitchen organised, clean and running efficiently
  • Maintaining high standards of food hygiene and safety
  • Managing preparation, stock rotation and kitchen organisation
  • Working closely with our friendly café and front-of-house team

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Loves food and takes pride in what they serve
  • Has previous experience working in a professional kitchen
  • Enjoys working with fresh, local and seasonal ingredients
  • Is creative and keen to bring new ideas to the table
  • Can work well in a busy environment while maintaining high standards
  • Is organised, reliable and takes pride in their work
  • Has a positive attitude and enjoys being part of a team
  • Is flexible and able to work one weekend day each week

Experience in a café, farm shop, gastro pub or similar environment would be an advantage, but enthusiasm and a passion for good food are just as important.
