Role Description
We are looking for a Buyer to join our Footwear and Accessories team based in our London office. This is a permanent role that will involve temporarily leading the Accessories team during a period of maternity leave until May 2027. A passion for product, branded buying, and the customer is a must, plus an eagerness to work within a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will already be an experienced Buyer, ready to hit the ground running and manage the categories competently.
What will you be doing?
Responsibilities / Objectives:
- Delivering individual financials: sales, margin, and profit through trading your own category.
- Negotiating Best Prices ensuring the offer is the most competitive in the market for the duration of the campaign.
- Continual sourcing of brands, ensuring we have the best product and offers while making speedy and commercial decisions.
- Executing Daily Sales in line with monthly targets offering a balanced range with sales targeted at the customer.
- Delivering a strategy that is reviewed and flexed on a monthly basis to ensure delivery of business targets.
- Reacting in season to department performance ensuring targets maintained.
- Conveying a sense of urgency to make things happen.
- Ensuring critical path deadlines are met and the wider teams are not jeopardised.
- Understanding of competition, brands, and keeping up-to-date information on competitive sales to assure we are offering the best sale within the time the sales are live. Constantly reviewing online competition and share new ideas.
Performance
- Demonstrating market knowledge to negotiate and deliver the best value to the BA customer while delivering a high sell-through for the brand.
- Attending weekly trade meetings to analyse and establish current performance in order to deliver an action plan to ensure sales targets are met.
- Communicating with marketing and production to ensure all sales are traded and have the marketing support to overachieve.
- Arranging and attending brand meetings to create understanding of high-value negotiations and sale planning.
- Dealing with obstacles demonstrating a “can do” attitude whilst delivering accurate results.
- Maintaining a flexible and proactive approach.
- Commercial acumen.

People development
- Responsible for developing junior team members on the Department – through coaching, training, and developing with regular reviews and constructive feedback. You would have 2 direct reports in this role.
- Ensuring performance reviews are executed twice a year and objectives and goals are agreed and monitored, in order for them to be more effective in their roles.
- Understanding the roles and responsibilities of other departments and ensuring they are supported with information required for them to perform their roles in an effective manner.
- At all times be an ambassador for BrandAlley developing and maintaining positive supplier relationships.
What you’ll bring…
The good stuff…
- An experienced Buyer with previous footwear and accessories experience
- Ability to manage the departments brand relationships, buys, and new brand pursue list.
- Exceptional negotiation skills and a demonstrated ability to secure commercial terms with suppliers.
- You’re highly organised, self-motivated, and have a flexible approach to managing high workload along with ad hoc tasks.
- You have strong analytical skills and a good knowledge of Excel to manipulate data, with the ability to drill into the detail to make commercial decisions.
- You’re a motivated individual, able to work independently and as part of a team.
- You have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- You have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- You’re proactive in problem identification and resolution.

The great stuff…
- Experience specific to footwear and accessories and with existing brand contacts in the industry.
- Prior experience with marketplace systems, specifically Mirakl, would be advantageous.
