Fashion Designer/ Senior Fashion Designer
Location: Haggerston (N1, De Beauvoir Town), 5 days office-based
Reporting to: CEO/ Creative Director
The Role
The Fashion Designer/ Senior Fashion Designer will work closely with the Creative Director to translate the seasonal creative vision into distinctive, commercially relevant collections that reflect the Huishan Zhang aesthetic.
Key Responsibilities
Collection Design & Development
- Translate seasonal briefs from the Creative Director into research, moodboards and initial design concepts.
- Carry out ongoing trend, market and archive research to identify new product opportunities.
- Produce clear, accurate design sketches and technical drawings for the atelier, technical team and suppliers.
- Develop designs within the agreed range plan, price points and critical path.
- Work closely with the Fabric Developer on seasonal fabric, colour, trim and material development.
- Develop print, embroidery and embellishment artwork and brief suppliers accordingly.
- Communicate effectively with sample development and production teams in China, reviewing samples and providing clear design and development feedback.
Range Planning & Commercial Development
- Collaborate closely with Sales on seasonal range planning, ensuring the collection provides the right breadth of options across categories, product types, price points and customer requirements.
- Balance creative direction with commercial potential, product cost and production feasibility.
- Support the development of exclusives, special projects and market-specific requirements where appropriate.
- Review sales statistics and sell-thru with the commercial team to inform future collection development.

Collection Management & Cross-Functional Working
- Maintain a clear overview of the collection throughout the season, ensuring designs, samples and key decisions remain aligned with the agreed range plan.
- Act as a key creative link between the Creative Director, Sales, PR and development teams, to ensure collection requirements are understood and delivered.
- Provide guidance and direction to junior design team members where appropriate.
- Maintain clear and organised seasonal design information and support effective communication across teams.
Lookbook & Collection Presentation
- Creative support of lookbook, marketing, visual merchandising and branding as directed by the Creative Director.
- Work alongside the PR Manager to oversee seasonal lookbook shoot production.
- Help establish the creative direction for shoots in line with the seasonal concept and Creative Director’s vision.
- Contribute to casting, styling, location/set and overall visual direction.
- Oversee garment and collection presentation on set to ensure the final imagery accurately represents the creative vision.

Experience & Skills
- Significant experience in luxury or designer womenswear, ideally at Senior Designer level.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating a sophisticated approach to womenswear, silhouette, fabrication and detail.
- Strong hand-sketching and CAD skills, including Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Excellent understanding of luxury fabrics, garment construction, embroidery, embellishment and finishing.
- Experience working with overseas sample development and production teams; experience with China is advantageous.
- Strong commercial awareness and experience contributing to range planning and collection reviews.
- Ability to interpret sales and customer feedback and translate this into relevant product opportunities.
- Experience contributing to fashion shoots, lookbooks or collection presentations.
- Strong organisation and critical-path management skills.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence working across creative, commercial and international teams.
