Work Pattern

  • Monday - Thursday: 8.45am - 4.45pm
  • Friday: 8.45am - 4.15pm

Salary

£29,326 - £38,779 per year

About the Role

South Lanarkshire Council is seeking a Finance Assistant to join the Strategy Team, focusing on supporting the Council’s capital programme and investment priorities. This role will support the Council’s strategic approach to capital investment, providing financial support across the capital programme and ensuring resources are planned, monitored, and managed effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development, monitoring, and reporting of the Council’s capital programme.
  • Work with finance colleagues and services across the Council.
  • Support the preparation of capital budgets and forecasts.
  • Monitor expenditure and funding.
  • Assist with financial reporting.
  • Contribute to the preparation of year-end accounts.
  • Provide high-quality financial information, advice, and support to services for capital planning and investment decisions.
  • Work with colleagues to identify financial issues, investigate variances, and ensure capital expenditure and associated funding are accurately recorded, monitored, and reported.

Requirements

The successful candidate should have experience working within a financial environment, ideally within the public sector, and should demonstrate appropriate technical knowledge and understanding of the finance function within a large organisation. Strong analytical and organisational skills are required, along with the ability to work effectively with financial information and communicate clearly with finance and non-finance colleagues.
