FCAS Security Lead - Strategic Physical Infrastructure Specialist

Location: Warton - On Site, 5 days per week

Salary: £59,491+ (DOE)

Job Description:

Working at the forefront of the Future Combat Air System (FCAS), this senior leadership role provides a unique opportunity to shape and deliver Protective Security strategy across one of the UK's most aspiring and internationally collaborative defence programmes. You will progress the development of security governance, risk mitigation and assurance frameworks that enable secure innovation, supporting multi-faceted multinational programmes, advanced technologies and strategic partnerships. Working closely with senior leaders, government stakeholders and international partners, you will help create an environment where security enables programme delivery, growth and collaboration.

As a key member of the Security leadership community, you will influence strategy, policy and agreement-making across FCAS and associated national programmes. Your role offers significant scope to drive continuous improvement, develop high-performing teams and contribute to future business opportunities, bids and market growth activities. Combining strategic guidance with knowledge in security, governance and emerging threats, you will play a pivotal role in protecting critical capabilities while supporting the successful delivery of next-generation defence solutions for BAE Systems and its customers.

Core duties:

  • Lead the strategic development and oversight of secure physical infrastructure solutions, ensuring FCAS facilities support current and future programme requirements
  • Establish and maintain governance, assurance and compliance frameworks for secure facilities, driving continuous improvement and reducing operational security risk
  • Partner with senior business leaders, government stakeholders and international collaborators to align infrastructure security requirements with programme targets
  • Oversee the planning, implementation and optimisation of secure environments, ensuring facilities, physical assets and associated controls enable effective programme delivery
  • Provide coordination and specialist guidance across physical infrastructure and protective security activities, developing organisational capability and supporting future business growth, bids and multinational partnerships

Essential Skills:

  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, with professional security accreditation or membership preferred
  • Significant experience developing and delivering security strategies, protecting classified information and high-value assets within multi-layered environments
  • Extensive knowledge of UK Government and industry security policies, standards, regulatory requirements and best practice frameworks
  • Demonstrable experience overseeing investigations, incident response, risk management and intelligence-led security strategy-making activities
  • Demonstrated leadership experience guiding multidisciplinary teams and providing strategic security advice within large, international organisations, balancing operational, commercial and business goals

The FCAS Security Team:

This team sits at the centre of production operations, driving business integration, governance and operational excellence across multiple functions. By coordinating information flow, establishing standards and supporting strategic business goals, bids and continuous improvement activities, the team enables effective strategy-making and helps deliver successful programme and business outcomes.

Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
