£45 per day for eligible travelling workers
Weekly figures are based on 60 hours and are gross before PAYE deductions.
The Role
We are recruiting experienced FCAW / Flux Core Welders for a major structural fabrication requirement in the Levenmouth area of Fife.
The contract is expected to run for 10+ months, offering experienced welders the opportunity to secure a substantial period of work within a busy industrial fabrication environment.
Day and night shift opportunities are available. The weekly earnings below are based on 60 hours, with a daily lodging allowance available to eligible travelling workers.
There is also an opportunity to move from temporary to permanent employment, subject to performance and the client's requirements. This could suit welders looking for both a longer contract and the possibility of a permanent role.
Experienced FCAW welders who do not currently hold personal codings can be tested on site. We would like to speak with suitable local welders and those willing to travel to the area.

The Work
The requirement is specifically for welders with genuine FCAW / Flux Cored Arc Welding experience. Typical duties are expected to include:
- FCAW structural welding using process 136
- Multi-run butt and fillet welds on structural steel
- Working in vertical up and overhead positions
- Welding structural frames, units, and fabricated assemblies
- Working from engineering drawings, welding symbols, and WPS
- Using ceramic backing tiles for root passes
- Preparation and cleaning of weld areas
- Completing welds to the required quality standards
- Working alongside Platers, Fabricators, and other engineering trades
Previous marine, shipbuilding, ship repair, or heavy fabrication experience would be particularly relevant. SAW, MCAW, or mechanized welding experience would be beneficial alongside strong FCAW skills.

60-hour Week on Days
- Local worker gross earnings: £1,682.33
- Eligible traveller lodging allowance: 6 days × £45 = £270.00
- Travelling worker total gross earnings: £1,952.33
60-hour Week on Nights
- Local worker gross earnings: £1,965.45
- Eligible traveller lodging allowance: 6 days × £45 = £270.00
- Travelling worker total gross earnings: £2,235.45

Travelling totals include the taxable lodging allowance for six days worked, subject to eligibility. All figures are gross before PAYE deductions and depend on the hours and shifts available.
Requirements
- Time-served welder with 4G minimum and SVQ Level 3 or equivalent
- Strong, demonstrable FCAW / Flux Core welding experience
- Recent structural steel welding experience
- Experience completing multi-run butt and fillet welds
- Comfortable welding in multiple positions
- Experience using ceramic backing tiles
- Ability to read engineering drawings and welding symbols
- Ability to work to WPS and required welding procedures
- Prepared to undertake a practical weld test
Current personal welder codings are not essential. In-house weld testing is available to ISO 9606-1, process 136 / FCAW, including vertical up and overhead welding with ceramic backing.
