Key Responsibilities:

Receive, review, and input all reports of crime from members of the public, police officers and police staff and other third-party organisations.

Determine whether crimes can be filed within FCB or passed for further research and investigation.

Inform and advise victims regarding the filing of crime, progression of investigations and finalisation in line with VCOP.

Question, where appropriate, members of the public reporting crime(s) to establish whether any viable lines of enquiry exist which assist in the detection of that crime e.g. forensic.

Complete all actions as necessary in line with National VCOP and local Complete Victim Care package, maintaining a victim focused approach at all times.

Computer literate and have proven ability in the use of windows-based computer systems, either by qualification or work experience

Candidate Information:
If you are successful at the interview stage before appointment, the relevant pre-employment checks are required. These include references, medical clearance, vetting clearance, and sickness absence criteria check.
The current rota is four shifts on (two early shifts, followed by two lates) then four days off. The successful applicant will be supported with an in-depth 8-week training package around relevant police systems and legislation. The training is scheduled to start January 2026.
During training you will be expected to work full time hours Monday to Friday 0800AM –1600PM at Rotherham and Atlas Court, Atlas Way, Sheffield.
Please note: No annual leave can be taken during training.
Upon completion of training the successful applicant is likely to join their respective team in March 2027.

Eligibility:
Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 3 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
