MUFG is recruiting for a Financial Crimes Compliance Quality Assurance Programme Head to join the Global Financial Crimes Division (GFCD) in London. This pivotal role offers an opportunity to shape, drive, and ensure consistency in global Financial Crimes Compliance (FCC) Quality Assurance (QA) methodologies—and strengths in Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Know Your Customer (KYC), and Sanctions.

About the Role

You will lead one of the core GFCD QA departments, developing methodologies that define global benchmarks for quality assurance across ABC, AML, KYC, and Sanctions. As part of MUFG’s senior leadership team, you will safeguard the organisation’s integrity, collaborate with global stakeholders, and influence financial crime compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Global FCC QA Programme: Ensure outputs meet global standards in quality, completeness, accuracy, and regulatory adherence.

  • Develop & Maintain Global Minimum Standards: Lead the creation of global minimum standards for FCC QA, gain approvals, and harmonise compliance frameworks across business units.

  • Collaborate Globally: Work with senior leaders and subject matter experts worldwide to promote standardisation and best practices in QA methodologies.

  • Enable Knowledge Sharing & Training: Maintain up-to-date training materials, deliver guidance, and ensure compliance understanding across teams.

  • Support Senior Governance & Risk Escalation: Prepare governance materials, report compliance progress, and escalate risks to leadership as needed.

  • Process Improvement & Mitchell Development: Strengthen internal controls, enhance efficiency, and mentor junior colleagues.

What You’ll Do Every Day

  • Drive consistency in FCC QA governance, ensuring regulatory requirements are met.
  • Strengthen internal control frameworks and share best practices across regions.
  • Prepare detailed reports, summaries, and management information for strategic decision-making.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders on risk assessments, compliance performance, and program compliance.
  • Lead improvement initiatives and enhance colaboration in global QA practices.

Requirements

To succeed in this senior leadership position, you will bring:

Core Qualifications:

  • Significant experience in financial services compliance, particularly within large international organisations where you have:

    • Driven meaningful change through rigorous evaluation of compliance programmes (e.g., ABC, AML, KYC, Sanctions).
    • Spearheaded programme transformation initiatives or led impactful projects in controls oversight.
  • Advanced expertise in quality assurance principles, including:

    • Sampling strategies, testing methodologies, monitoring techniques.
    • Regulatory frameworks for financial crime compliance.
    • usage of MI reporting, risk-based approaches, and governance structures.
  • Business experience with:

    • Monitoring and advising on complex compliance matters for senior leadership.
    • Preparing internal governance documentation, training materials, and stakeholder communications.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of AML/Cyber Crimes Techniques applied in financial services.

Preferred Experience:

  • Regulatory or enforcement experience, networking with national regulators (e.g., FCA, FINRA, SEC).
  • Certifications such as CIA, CAMS, ICA Diploma in AML, or equivalent compliance qualifications.
  • Degree in finance, law, economics, or business administration (or equivalent work experience).
