I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Main Duties of the Job
As an FCP, you will be working along with the medical and non-medical staff at the GP practices within a primary care network (PCN) to provide First Contact Physiotherapy service as part of their patient offer. You will also be expected to develop links with colleagues within the MSK pathway, commissioners, and secondary care colleagues to ensure the delivery of excellent patient-focused care. Qualifications to request and interpret imaging and blood interpretation are essential, and prescribing and joint injection qualifications are desirable. The successful candidate must be committed to attaining Health Education England FCP registration and will receive mentorship and support to achieve this within agreed timescales. The FCP will be expected to take responsibility for their ongoing professional development and funding will be provided based on the service demand.
