East Suffolk Council (ESC) is an exciting place to work, delivering essential local services and making a real difference to a quarter of a million people across East Suffolk.
We currently have a great opportunity to join the Communities and Leisure Team as the Feel Good Suffolk Operational Lead. This role is being offered on a 12-month fixed term.
Your role:
The successful candidate will manage the day-to-day operations of Feel Good Suffolk (FGS) services across the East Suffolk district and lead our team of operational staff including our FGS Advisors.
This role is responsible for the operation of effective and efficient behaviour change services in East Suffolk, ensuring highly effective client experiences that in turn drive positive and sustained behaviour change outcomes. Working within the FGS partnership of Local Authorities, Public Health and Communities, and NHS Norfolk and Suffolk ICB, you will ensure that the highest possible standards of care are always applied and adhered to from the FGS delivery team, and provide operational cover where required to ensure continuity of services.
You will ensure the FGS operational team is appropriately supported, trained, and compliant to provide quality driven, person-centred lifestyle improvement services. Partnership working is at the heart of this role, and you will represent ESC within the central Operational Leads group to ensure consistency, quality, and safety of practice across the County.
What you will need:
The successful candidate will have experience of leading teams and motivating staff to deliver effective outcomes. You will have a broad knowledge of health, wellbeing, and inequalities, with excellent organisational and communication skills, and an ability to analyse data and problem solve to ensure the smooth operation of FGS services locally. You will need to be flexible and adaptable to respond to the needs of our service users and to the dynamic day-to-day nature of a healthy lifestyle service.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
