Job Description
Hours: 24-32 hours available per week. Mixture of day and night shifts, or combined.
Shifts patterns:
- 9.45am-6pm
- 5.45pm-10am following morning (including a sleep-in period between 12am-8am)
- Possibility of a combined shift over a 24-hour period
Monthly rotas are supplied.
Rate:
- £16.00 per hour, raising to £16.50 per hour after successful completion of 6-month probationary period.
- £80 set rate per sleepover (for sleep in hours of 12am-8am)
- Time and a half for bank holidays.
Area: Hamsterley Mill near Rowlands Gill, Gateshead.
Driving Licence: Essential
Job Role: Female personal assistant required for a lady with an acquired head injury in her own home in Hamsterley Mill near Rowlands Gill.

- Accompanying the client on trips/holidays is a requirement of the job when necessary.
- Brain injury experience is preferred but not mandatory. Care experience needed.
The client requires support to live her life as independently as possible. She needs 24-hour care, 7 days a week.
The client needs support with:
- Personal care
- Upkeep of home
- Cooking
- Medication administration
- Shopping
- Appointments
- Exercise
- Socialisation
- Helping to take care of her dogs (So, liking dogs is essential).
In-house training is provided. Client uses a wheelchair when out but has walking ability in the house.

Client has her own car that the carer will use to transport her so, a clean driving licence is essential.
Interview Process:
- Initial phone interview held first prior to offer of an interview in person.
Occupational Requirement: There is a genuine occupational requirement for the holder of this post to be female in accordance with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014 and Equality Act 2010 schedule 9 paragraphs 1 – 4.
Employment: This vacancy will close as soon as a suitable candidate is appointed. At the time of starting their employment, the successful candidate must have permission to work in the U.K.
