About The Role

Location: Houghton Regis, Dunstable
Hours: Typical shifts are Monday-Friday and will be discussed at interview. Typical shifts are 7am-9am and 4pm-8pm plus 6 hours on a Saturday and Sunday which will be worked flexibly. Bank hours also available.
Pay: £16.25 per hour, Weekdays and £17.75 per hour, Weekends and Bank Holidays

Job Summary
We are seeking a patient and caring Support Worker to assist Julia, born in 2008. Julia lives with her family. She loves getting her hair and nails done, shopping, dining out, swimming and going to the gym on a regular basis which supports with her therapy. She is also strongly interested in animal care, country music, and writing short stories and poems. She has a great sense of humour.
Julia sustained a brain injury following a car accident and as a result now has limited mobility in her arms, and legs more predominantly felt on her left side. She has reduced balance and co-ordination which puts her at risk of falling, she has a wheelchair but very seldom uses this. Julia can have difficulties with emotional regulation and sometimes finds it difficult to process information, so time given to answer questions is required.
Please note: There is a dog in the family home, further details provided during the interviews.
Main Duties And Responsibilities
- Assisting and supporting with all aspects of care, including personal care needs
- Developing her independence within the local community and home whilst maintaining her safety
- Therapy support as agreed with her team of therapists and Case Manager
- Assist with ‘client related’ domestic tasks
- Work cooperatively with Julia’s mother, support workers and Case Manager
- Accompanying on family trips and holidays

About You
It would be great to receive your application, if you have the following skills/behaviours:
- Female due to providing personal care
- Must be able to work with specialist equipment (training will be provided). A Handling Management Plan is available and is designed to reduce the risk of handling injuries, but you may be required to bend, kneel, squat, push or pull.
- Experience with working with behaviours that challenge others
- Confident and comfortable working in Julia’s own home and sensitive to the needs and wishes of her and her family
- Can demonstrate commitment and passion for meeting Julia's needs
- Can demonstrate empathy and understanding in an appropriate and professional manner

About Us
ILS Case Management is the UK's leading independent nationwide Case Management company.
When a person’s life has been changed by injury, we address the practicalities. We work with children and adults who have had moderate or catastrophic, complex injuries. We assess individual needs and are able to provide a comprehensive Case Management designed to maximise independence. We are CQC registered and compliant with their standards.
Our Case Managers work closely with our Clients, and we carry out all the recruitment processes on behalf of our Clients; and will support you, from your initial telephone interview right through to arranging employer interviews, trial shifts and placement.
If you are successfully recruited, you will be employed directly by our client or their Deputy appointed by the Court of Protection. However, ILS will manage your day-to-day employment, providing you with the support you need to carry out your role. Working as a Carer or Support Worker for an ILS client means that you will have a dedicated Case Manager to oversee your client's care needs.
