Fibre Installation Engineer
The Fibre Installation Engineer will be responsible for delivering fibre installation and connection works across customer and network sites. The role will include pre-installation checks, overhead installation, feeder and distribution works, lead-in installation, and customer fibre connections.
The engineer will be expected to complete works safely, efficiently and to the required technical and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out Pre-Install Checks (PIC) to assess site readiness and installation requirements.
- Undertake overhead (OH) fibre installation in accordance with approved network designs.
- Install and work on feeder and distribution fibre infrastructure.
- Install fibre lead-ins from the network to customer premises.
- Complete customer fibre installations and connections on Sx.
- Undertake combined PIC + Lead-in, Lead-in + Install, and PIC + Lead-in + Install activities.
- Route, secure, terminate and connect fibre cables in accordance with specifications.
- Carry out fibre testing and basic fault diagnosis where required.
- Identify any access, infrastructure or installation issues and report them promptly.
- Take required photographs and maintain accurate job records.
- Complete all work orders and documentation accurately through the relevant systems.
- Communicate professionally with customers and other site personnel.
- Ensure installations are completed within agreed productivity and programme targets.
- Follow all RAMS, health & safety procedures and network operator requirements.
- Maintain company tools, equipment and vehicles in good working condition.
- Ensure high standards of workmanship and minimise failed installations or repeat visits.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in fibre optic / FTTP installation.
- Practical experience with fibre installation and customer connections.
- Experience with overhead fibre, lead-ins, feeder and distribution networks.
- Ability to carry out site/pre-installation assessments.
- Understanding of fibre optic installation methods and network infrastructure.
- Good fault-finding and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to read and understand network drawings and installation specifications.
- Good communication and customer-service skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage daily workloads.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to work outdoors and travel between sites.

Desirable Qualifications
- NRSWA / Street Works qualification.
- Fibre optic / FTTP installation certification.
- IPAF / PASMA.
- Working at Height.
- Manual Handling.
- Asbestos Awareness.
- First Aid.
- Experience working for or on behalf of major UK telecoms network operators.
