Role Description
Sub contractors on-site role based in Greater London. The Engineer will be responsible for installing, splicing, testing, and maintaining fiber optic cables and related network equipment in the field. Daily tasks include:

The role involves coordinating with project managers, surveyors, and other engineers to deliver fiber projects on time, documenting work completed, and updating records and system data. The Fibre Engineer will also interact with customers or site contacts as needed to ensure minimal disruption and clear communication about planned works.
Qualifications
- Practical experience in fiber optic installation, splicing, and testing, including use of OTDR and other diagnostic tools.
- Strong understanding of fiber network design, routing, and infrastructure components such as ducts, cabinets, and distribution points.
- Knowledge of relevant safety standards, working-at-height and confined-space practices, and adherence to health and safety regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, maps, and work orders, with accurate reporting and documentation skills.
- Effective problem-solving abilities and fault-finding skills in live network environments.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Valid driving license and willingness to travel within Greater London and nearby areas as project needs require.
- Previous experience in telecoms, fiber infrastructure, or related fields; vocational or technical qualification in telecommunications, networking, or engineering is preferred.
