About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Field Adjuster to join our dynamic team. This exciting opportunity is ideal for a technically skilled claims professional with specialised knowledge in buildings and contents insurance claims, ready to drive customer-focused, fair resolutions while maintaining regulatory compliance.

Your role will involve assessing property damage, reviewing professional reports, managing site visits, and providing technical guidance to contractors and policyholders while upholding regulatory standards. Ideal candidates combine expertise in building pathology, reinstatement processes, and policy interpretation with a passion for excellence in claims handling.


Key Responsibilities

  • Claim Assessment & Validation

    • Evaluate the validity, cause, and settlement value of buildings and contents claims.
    • Conduct site inspections, including contractor audits and policyholder property visits.
  • Technical & Documentation Work

    • Review surveyor reports, contractor estimates, and customer invoices using systems like Xactware.
    • Validate contents loss lists, applying depreciation, wear and tear, and policy terms.
    • Assess subsidence claims and expert reports to determine appropriate remediation strategies.

  • Policy & Compliance Management

    • Produce accurate reports and scopes of work within delegated authority limits.
    • Comply with regulatory standards, including FCA requirements, financial governance policies, and service level agreements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement

    • Liaise seamlessly with contractors, surveyors, and the Trinity Supplier Network to progress claims efficiently.
    • Provide clear technical explanations to policyholders regarding claim decisions, settlement terms, and policy coverage.
  • Fraud & Audit Support

    • Identify potential fraud indicators and escalate concerns if necessary.
    • Participate in surveyor and contractor performance audits to minimise claim leakage risk.
  • Escalations & Conflict Resolution

    • Support Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) complaints, producing technical reports for investigations.
  • Field & Customer Workload Management

    • Handle a field-based workload, including site visits, customer meetings, and claim escalations.

Key Requirements

Essential Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years of proven experience in property claims handling, loss adjusting, or insurance assessment.
  • CILA (Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters) OR CII (Chartered Insurance Institute) qualification—mandatory.
  • Deep technical knowledge of:
    • Building pathology
    • Reinstatement processes
    • Repair methodologies
    • Insurance policy wordings
  • Hands-on experience with both buildings and contents claims, including valuations, contractor engagement, and legal reconciliation.
  • Strong command of digital claims systems, particularly experience with Xactware.
  • Analytical expertise in interpreting depreciated values, fire flood damage, and structural defect claims.
