About the Role
This role leads the Field Adjusting Team, overseeing the technical assessment, validation and settlement of building and contents claims within delegated authority. You’ll ensure scopes, costs and settlements are accurate, evidence-based, commercially sound and compliant with policy terms, while providing clear technical direction to surveyors and contractors.
You’ll manage claim spend and reinstatement activity, provide technical support on complex and escalated claims, including FOS cases, and ensure customers receive fair, transparent and high-quality outcomes. The role also carries responsibility for the performance, development, engagement and wellbeing of the team, ensuring capability and technical standards support business and customer needs.

A visible operational presence is required, with travel to sites and team activities as needed, including occasional overnight or extended stays.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead claims assessment – Oversee building and contents claim assessments, ensuring accurate, evidence-based decisions, scopes and settlements within delegated authority.
- Provide technical leadership – Set technical standards across building repairs, pathology, subsidence and contents, providing guidance on complex and escalated claims.
- Manage suppliers and costs – Oversee surveyors, contractors and suppliers, ensuring quality, SLA performance, cost control and effective claims management from assessment through to closure.
- Lead and develop the team – Coach and develop the Field Adjusting Team, managing performance, capability, engagement, wellbeing and resource planning.
- Ensure governance and customer outcomes – Maintain compliance with policy, FCA, risk and data requirements while ensuring fair, consistent and high-quality customer outcomes.
Key Requirements
- Property claims expertise – Strong experience in buildings and contents claims, including policy interpretation, coverage and settlement within delegated authority.
- Technical knowledge – Strong understanding of building pathology, reinstatement, repairs, contractor estimates and subsidence.
- Leadership experience – Proven ability to lead, coach and develop field-based technical or loss adjusting teams.
- Commercial & customer focus – Strong analytical and communication skills, with a focus on cost control, quality and fair customer outcomes.
- Qualifications – HNC, CII, ACII or a similar surveying, insurance or property-related qualification is desirable.
