Our history and journey
Formed in 1985, M·E·L Research has grown steadily to a core in-house team of over 30 research and evaluation staff, plus many more telephone interviewers and external CAPI interviewers and support staff. We are on an exciting growth journey, expanding our research and insights capabilities, enhancing our evaluation services, and embedding our data visualisation tools alongside recognised quality accreditations.

Job Location: Remote (with a requirement to occasionally come into the Birmingham office)
Reporting to: External Field Team Manager
Salary Range: £28,000 (37.5 Hours per week) plus potential profit bonus, pension and other benefits

Job summary
The Field & Business Support Coordinator provides administrative and operational support across M·E·L Research, with primary responsibility for supporting the effective delivery of Field Operations while also providing substantial business support and administration across the organisation.
The role combines fieldwork administration, interviewer support, bidding and enquiry coordination, ERP administration, HR administration and support, quality and compliance administration, and wider business coordination activities.
The successful candidate will:
- Be a UK resident with the right to work in the UK
- Be highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Have excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records and information.
- Be confident using Microsoft Office, business systems and digital tools.
- Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Be proactive, practical and flexible in responding to changing business needs.
- Enjoy working collaboratively with colleagues across different teams.
- Demonstrate a commitment to quality, compliance and continuous improvement.
- Be comfortable working independently whilst contributing positively to team objectives.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Essential
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
- Proactive, flexible and practical approach to work.
- Confidence using digital tools and technology.
Desirable
- Previous experience in an administrative, business support, operations support or coordinator role
- Experience using databases, ERP, CRM or similar business systems.
- Experience in market research, fieldwork or project-based environments.
- Experience supporting a remote or distributed workforce.
- Tender, bid or procurement administration experience.
- HR or recruitment administration experience.
- Quality, compliance or audit administration experience.
- Experience managing equipment inventories or operational assets.
- Experience of ERP or CRM systems
