Job title:
Field CTO
Reporting to:
Head of Field CTO
Responsible for:
No direct reports
Based at:
UK, hybrid. Expected to work from a Bell office at least two days per week, with customer travel as required.
Scope:
Strategic customer engagement, executive technology advisory, AI First adoption, market insight and roadmap feedback across Bell’s priority sectors.
Purpose
The Field CTO provides executive-level technology leadership to strategic customers, helping shape technology direction, align business outcomes to innovation opportunities and accelerate adoption of Bell’s AI First portfolio. The role acts as the bridge between customer requirements, industry and market trends, Bell’s product roadmap and reusable intellectual property. Bell is particularly interested in candidates with deep expertise and market credibility in either Energy or Financial Services & Insurance (FS&I), reflecting current growth priorities, while retaining the flexibility to appoint an exceptional Field CTO with relevant experience in another priority sector.
Role
Key Responsibilities
- Support high-value strategic pursuits and executive customer conversations, translating business goals into clear technology direction, options and measurable outcomes.
- Provide strategic technology advice across Bell’s priority sectors and bring relevant industry context into account planning, discovery and transformation roadmaps.
- Capture customer patterns, objections, emerging demand, regulatory signals and adoption blockers, and provide actionable feedback to Product CTO and Product & Service Design.
- Identify repeatable customer use cases and proposition gaps that can be converted into reusable Bell capability, reference architectures, discovery assets and value stories.
- Sponsor lighthouse customers and develop credible Customer Zero-to-customer narratives that support adoption of Bell’s AI First products and intellectual property.
- Provide competitive, vendor, market and industry insight to inform portfolio decisions, go-to-market messaging and proposition validation.
- Work with Sales and Account teams on pursuit strategy and customer access, while Sales retains ownership of the commercial relationship and delivery teams retain ownership of implementation.
- Prioritise qualified strategic opportunities, avoid bespoke consulting where there is no reusable value, and contribute to influenced pipeline, win rate, strategic deal value and customer references.
- Where relevant, use deep Energy or FS&I knowledge to strengthen Bell’s customer credibility, sector propositions, executive relationships and market differentiation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
