Field Engineer
Position Overview:
The Field Engineer provides dedicated onsite technical support supporting IT projects, incidents, and service requests for a major Advania client. The role delivers practical support and guidance to end users and colleagues, with particular focus on hardware replacement, device preparation, and accurate asset records.
Working as part of the Field Engineering team, the postholder will support the client across its main locations and help maintain a consistent, professional, and responsive onsite service.
The successful candidate will combine strong verbal communication with excellent attention to detail and the ability to produce clear, accurate technical documentation.

- The salary for this role ranges from £37,000 to £40,000 per annum, plus a monthly car allowance of £450 and mileage expenses reimbursed separately.

Responsibilities:
- Travel to client locations across a large and rural operational area approximately an 80k chord with Brackley as the central hub.
- Deliver, or contribute to the delivery of, project tasks, incidents, and functional user support in line with customer requirements and operational guidance.
- Ensure successful delivery, sign-off, and handover to support services following project activity.
- Create, maintain, and update accurate technical documentation, asset information, and configuration records.
- Allocate and record time against tasks and projects accurately and in sufficient detail.
- Take ownership of assigned tickets and tasks, managing them professionally through to resolution or conclusion.
- Keep incidents, requests, and project tasks updated in the ticket management system.
- Support the dedicated onsite team by troubleshooting, maintaining equipment, and completing end-user hardware replacements.
- Contribute as an active team member and support the achievement of individual and team objectives.
- Undertake other reasonable duties assigned by management, including work outside project implementation where required.
- Act as an ambassador for Advania and the client at all times.

Technical Exposure:
- Cloud technologies: Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Azure, Cisco Meraki
- Productivity applications: Microsoft 365, Office 365, print solutions, and bespoke client software
- Workstation hardware and software: Desktop operating systems and workstation hardware
- Peripherals: Printers, access points, and related equipment
What Success Looks Like:
- Accurate and complete time recording based on work undertaken.
- Timely, clear, and diligent updates to tickets, tasks, and project records.
- Successful task completion, minimizing avoidable follow-up tickets after implementation.
- Clear, thorough, and accurate documentation.
- Positive customer satisfaction and feedback survey responses.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Practical implementation skills and experience in laptop builds, mobile device setup, and hardware replacement.
- A clear commitment to taking ownership of IT queries and working with other parties to drive them through to completion.
- At least one year of experience in a relevant technical support role.
- Flexibility to work weekends or outside normal hours when required.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- A demonstrable commitment to excellent customer service.
- Practical capability to mount monitors, access points, and similar equipment. Suitable training will be provided where required.
- A full, clean UK driving licence and willingness to travel to remote sites across a large area.
- Willingness to undertake regular drug and alcohol testing as a requirement of the role.
- Willingness to complete BPSS and DBS checks. These checks will be sponsored by Advania.
