Do you want to help build a company with the capacity to disrupt whole industries and take on environmental issues on a global scale?

Matter. is a VC backed Cleantech scale-up and has an opportunity for an experienced Field Engineer to play a key role in delivering high-quality engineering projects from build through to start-up.

This role offers the opportunity to work on complex industrial filtration systems, ensuring they are installed correctly, commissioned safely, and perform to specification. If you thrive on site-based work and take pride in seeing projects through to completion, we’d like to hear from you.

Job Title: Field Engineer

Location: Central Bristol, Hybrid, with extensive international travel requirements up to 50%

Salary Range: £47,970 – £69,290 per annum

Matter. are innovators in water filtration, developing pioneering filtration technology to capture microplastics and cut carbon emissions. You will be working on some of the biggest challenges of our time, removing micropollutants from the world’s waterways.

Through brilliant design thinking, powerful partners, and impatience to make what we do matter, our mission is to transform industries through technology that empowers customers and protects the planet.

We pride ourselves on our amazing technology and passion for wanting to change things, but fundamentally what we are most proud of is our people.

For us, people are everything. It’s what makes a company, not the mission written on the wall or the fancy building we work in. Our people represent us, our values and why we do what we do.

The Opportunity

As Matter’s Field Engineer, you will play a key role in driving our business growth across multiple industries, with an initial focus on the textile and laundry industries.

You will take the technical and practical lead of conducting testing with customers to support the Commercial Team in driving revenue growth. You will also be the technical and practical lead at customer’s sites with respect to installation and commissioning of Matter equipment. Some maintenance actions and post commissioning support/troubleshooting will also play a key role in customer success.

You will be responsible for the planning of such testing and work closely with our Commercial and Engineering teams to ensure successful outcomes with the customer.

Key to this role is practical experience in the operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment equipment, or similar industrial solutions.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
