Job Objective

Provide field support, resolve incidents and assigned problems, install, maintain and manage network & facilities equipment for WIOCC Group companies including Open Access Technical Services (OATS) and clients.

Reporting Line: Regional Operations Manager (Europe)

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • 24/7 field assistance, on-call, out of hours and night / weekend / public holidays working as required
  • Proactive monitoring of equipment & facilities
  • Network installation, testing & commissioning, bringing into service, integration
  • Cross connects, jumping, patching copper and fibre
  • Maintain records, inventory and spares
  • Receive equipment, bench test, storage and RMA return handling
  • Incident and problem resolution as directed by NOC / TAC / NMC / GCC
  • Work with and assist to manage contractors and vendors
  • Assist service managers as directed, including clients and supplier meetings
  • Assist with technical shareholder support / shareholder consultancy and sales support
  • Assist with network quality and performance management
  • Creation of ad hoc reports as needed
  • Assist other departments and projects as requested by the Programme Manager
  • Travel as required within the EU
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • French, Spanish, Portuguese or Italian (desirable)
  • Technical certifications i.e. CCNA or equivalent field experience (desirable)
  • Valid full driver’s license. The role will require the employee to drive company vehicles

Experience and Skills

  • 3+ years’ technical experience in the telecom industry (data center/optics desirable)
  • Good communications and soft skills, including ability to follow instructions
  • Must use systems effectively to record information accurately and concisely in a timely manner
  • Demonstrate ability to manage multiple priorities and solve problems in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of telecom network architectures, protocols and standards such as DWDM, OTN, SDH, Ethernet and IP/MPLS
  • Use of tools and test equipment, including OLT, OTDR, OSA, Ethernet/OTN testers
  • Knowledge of AC and DC power, inverters, rectifiers and PSU units
