Position Overview

The Field HSE Lead position is a technical site-based opportunity supporting a major carbon capture project in the UK. This position will take responsibility for field health, safety and environmental leadership, ensuring site activities are aligned with recognised HSE standards and regulatory expectations. The Field HSE Lead role offers the chance to work closely with project and site management while leading a team of HSE professionals in a complex contractor environment. The Field HSE Lead will play a key role in strengthening safe delivery, risk management and incident prevention across site operations.

Role Context

This opportunity sits within the energy sector on a carbon capture project based in Teesside. The role operates in a site environment and reports to the Project HSE Manager while managing a team of four HSE officers. The working environment includes coordination with subcontractors, environmental teams, clients and relevant authorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement HSE management systems on site in line with company, IOGP and ISO guidelines and standards.
  • Act as the HSE focal point for site activities and manage HSE matters across the work scope.
  • Lead and develop a field team of four HSE officers.
  • Provide HSE advice and support to project and site management teams.
  • Lead accident and incident investigations and support corrective action planning.
  • Establish and implement HSE monitoring and audit programmes.
  • Lead risk management activities including HAZOP, HAZID, hazard and effect management processes, and risk assessments.
  • Support environmental management activities on site.
  • Develop an emergency response plan for identified potential events.
  • Interface effectively with clients, subcontractors and authorities.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Proven experience as an HSE Manager or in senior HSE activities.
  • Prior experience with IOGP.
  • Experience working with IMCA contractors.
  • Knowledge of CDM regulations and UK legislation.
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
  • ISO 45001 Lead Auditor certification.
