Role: School IT Technician

Location

Dartford, Bromley, Sussex and West London - several positions available.

About the Role

Are you an experienced IT professional who enjoys solving technical problems and delivering excellent customer service?

We’re looking for a School Technician to provide hands-on and remote IT support across an educational environment, helping schools keep their technology running smoothly and ensuring staff and students receive a reliable, high-quality IT service.

What You’ll Be Doing

IT Support & Customer Service

  • Provide 1st line IT support across school IT systems.
  • Attend scheduled and ad-hoc site visits to provide hands-on technical support.
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues, taking a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Communicate clearly with clients, keeping them updated on progress and next steps.
  • Accurately record and document completed work through managed service tickets.
  • Work closely with 2nd and 3rd line support teams where required.

Hardware & Software

  • Diagnose, repair and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, AV equipment and peripherals.
  • Install, configure and troubleshoot operating systems, including Windows, macOS and Linux.
  • Support educational software, productivity applications and specialised systems.
  • Deploy and re-image hardware.
  • Configure printers and manage print accounts.

Networking & IT Security

  • Manage network user accounts, permissions and profiles.
  • Configure and troubleshoot LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, VPNs and networking equipment.
  • Support core networking technologies including DHCP and DNS.
  • Help maintain effective cybersecurity measures, including antivirus, firewalls and web/email filtering.
  • Support filtering and safeguarding solutions within an educational environment.

AV & Remote Support

  • Install, configure and maintain projectors, interactive/smart boards and video conferencing equipment.
  • Provide remote technical support using tools such as Remote Desktop and TeamViewer.
  • Escalate more complex issues to the appropriate support teams.

Documentation & IT Asset Management

  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, network diagrams and user guides.
  • Support schools with IT inventory and asset management.
  • Make recommendations for hardware and software purchases where required.
  • Follow company and client processes to ensure a consistent, high-quality service.

Projects & Additional Support

  • Assist with IT projects when school support work is not scheduled.
  • Work independently while also contributing effectively as part of the wider IT support team.

What We’re Looking For

Technical Experience

  • Strong background in IT support; experience working within schools is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365, Azure, Gmail/G-Suite and Google Classroom.
  • Experience with:
    • Windows Server
    • Active Directory
    • Group Policy
    • Hyper-V / VMware
    • Veeam
    • Intune
  • Good understanding of networking fundamentals, including LAN, WAN, switches, DHCP and DNS.
  • Experience supporting Android and iOS mobile devices.
  • Familiarity with filtering and safeguarding software used within education.
