Overview

This is a fixed-term field merchandising contract with a consumer goods business operating across large grocery retailers in the UK. The role covers the Essex and Suffolk region, is fully on-site at grocery stores, and runs for 10 weeks from 15 October. The pay rate is £14 per hour.

Stock that's visible on the shelf sells. This role exists because keeping product well-placed and fully stocked in large grocery stores has a direct, measurable impact on sales volume for the client. Day to day, you'll be visiting stores across Essex and Suffolk, moving stock from the warehouse onto the shop floor, applying security tags, photographing displays, and logging everything accurately through a CRM. The person who thrives here is someone who walks into an unfamiliar store, builds a working relationship with the staff quickly, gets the job done efficiently, and leaves a clean data trail behind them.

Key Responsibilities

  • Moving stock from the warehouse area onto the shop floor in large grocery stores
  • Applying security tags to stock correctly
  • Photographing stock in place as part of visit completion
  • Reporting visit completion, stock levels, and point-of-sale placement through a CRM
  • Building rapport with store staff to locate stock and work efficiently on each visit
  • Communicating clearly and regularly with your Regional Manager throughout the campaign

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Team and Culture

  • You'll work independently in store but stay connected to your Regional Manager throughout the campaign
  • The role is assessed partly through client audits, so accuracy and professionalism on every visit matter
  • Communication is straightforward and practical: clear reporting and regular check-ins are what keep things running smoothly

Challenges

  • Building a working relationship with store staff quickly on every visit is what makes the rest of the job easier, and it takes genuine people skills to do that consistently across different stores
  • Each visit needs a clear plan before you walk in: knowing your goals upfront is what separates an efficient visit from a slow one
  • CRM accuracy is non-negotiable, as the data you capture feeds directly into client audits, so attention to detail on reporting has to be consistent throughout the campaign
