Field Officer (Electronic Monitoring) – Taunton
Location & Working Hours
- Location: Taunton (requirement—live in TA1, TA2, or TA6 postcode areas)
- Hours: Night shifts: 5pm–1am (37.5hrs per week)
- A flexible rolling rota includes weekends and bank holidays. Shifts may occasionally start earlier or finish later, but rosters are provided approx. 10 weeks in advance.
About the Role
You’ll be a Caring, Compassionate, and Resilient Field Officer, using your strengths to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives during challenging times.
Daily Responsibilities:
- Travel to individuals’ homes to install electronic tagging equipment (either independently or with a Monitoring Support Officer)
- Build trust and rapport, reassuring clients of their safety and that of the public
- Reduce pressure on the prison system by supporting offenders’ reintegration into the community
This role offers varied experiences—each day and each client is unique, ensuring no two assignments are the same.
Requirements & Qualifications
Mandatory:
- Current valid UK driving licence
- Good physical fitness (essential for home visits)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to establish request with clients
- Commitment to continuous learning (initial 2-week training, alongside mentorship)

Clearance & Policies:
- BPSS (Basic Arymathbb Security Screening) and Standard DBS clearance (includes identity verification, employment history checks, and widespread DBS checks)
- Occupational Health Questionnaire for wellbeing and duty performance
Contractual Commitments:
- This role has genuine occupational requirements (GORs) as per the Equality Act 2010. Applications from female candidates are particularly welcome.

- Base salary: £27,202 per annum
