We are seeking qualified applicants for the position of Field Operator, Power Island located in Cameron, LA.
Summary
The Field Operator, Power Island will report directly to the Shift Supervisor, Power Island and will receive direction from Control Panel Operators supporting Power Island. This position plays a crucial role within the LNG power plant facility, with primary responsibilities focused on executing field operations related to Power Plant equipment.
Power Island is the portion of the LNG facility responsible for producing electricity from energy released by fuel or steam. It is comprised of GE gas turbines exhausting to Heat Recovery Steam Generators that drive Steam Turbines, associated support equipment, and energy management systems.
General Description Duties & Responsibilities
The Power Island Field Operator will be responsible for operating Power Island equipment in alignment with all company environmental and safety policies. This role requires a thorough understanding of operating and permit limits to ensure regulatory compliance while maximizing reliability and efficiency. The operator will report safety and environmental concerns, problems, and incidents to relevant shift team members.
- Ensure that systems are established and functioning to facilitate effective emergency response, taking the lead on first-line incident control.
- Complete all necessary safety and environmental documentation accurately and timely.
- Assist in the pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, and initial operation of the LNG Facility Power Island, playing a critical role in integrated commissioning/start-up teams alongside the EPC contractor.
- Act as the primary point of contact for Power Island field operations during the shift, effectively coordinating activities with the Power Island Control Panel Operator.
- Communicate any process changes that may impact upstream facilities or personnel.
- Operate and monitor Power Island field equipment, providing insights on how potential changes will impact facility operations.
- Control the process within the operational envelope, adhering to established procedures to ensure maximum reliability and compliance with the LNG production plan and product specifications.
- Actively monitor operations throughout the shift to maintain consistent and reliable facility performance.
- Identify and troubleshoot process issues or deviations from normal operations, responding to process upsets and emergencies according to established procedures.
- Understand and support the implementation of equipment clearance (LOTO) procedures, as well as job safety analysis, work authorization, confined space, and hot work permits.
- Operate the heat recovery steam generator (HRSG), steam turbine, gas turbines, and auxiliary plant equipment and systems during both normal and emergency operations.
- Perform water analysis of HRSG water and make necessary chemical feed adjustments to maintain water quality within specified limits.
- Align and adjust plant equipment and systems as directed by the Panel Operator-Power.
- Operate various manual and locally controlled pumps and valves within the Power Island.
- Utilize computer systems (DCS/PLC) for data analysis, comprehension, and input.
- Monitor and document data from various instruments, recording charts, annunciator systems, and other monitoring devices into shift logs as required by operational procedures.
- Operate electric generation, transmission, and distribution equipment for controlling the flow and delivery of electrical energy to the LNG facility.
- Oversee the off-loading of aqueous ammonia and other bulk chemicals at the site.
- Conduct regular equipment inspections and readings, interpreting meter and gauge readings to ensure optimal operations.
- Maintain and update skills and knowledge of processes by completing required refresher training.
- Engage in the training program, acting as a mentor to trainees by providing them with significant job assignments, job training, and monitoring of their progress.
- Offer technical support during problem-solving activities to ensure reliability issues are recognized and communicated effectively to the appropriate departments.
- Participate in the development of operating procedures and manuals as well as the Operations Training Program, providing mentorship to plant operators as they complete the training.

Qualifications
Required Experience
- 3-5 years operations experience in related industrial field.

Preferred Experience
- Experience in operations of Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT), GE 7EA, HRSG, and A200 steam turbine.
- Commissioning, startup, and operations in oil & gas, petrochemical, or independent power producer (IPP) facility experience.
Required Education
- Associate degree in related field, relevant military training, or equivalent experience. High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) is required.
Required Skills
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of power plant operations, systems, and equipment.
- Applies knowledge of steam power plant operations and basic power plant principles to daily decision making and work tasks.
- An acute sensitivity to safety issues in a hazardous environment.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of an organization and with individuals and groups from different disciplines, industries, and governmental agencies.
- Able to work with a culturally diverse group of technical individuals whose skills cover the range required to operate and maintain Power Island of Liquefaction production facilities.
- Possess the ability to relate to and to establish a mutually respectful relationship with management, peers, and the various facility level workers who are all responsible for ensuring operational excellence.
- Organized, planning skills, able to manage multiple activities and programs in a timely fashion and with a high degree of accuracy, able to meet work deadlines.
- Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills.
- Computer knowledge including Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Access, Project, and PowerPoint.
- Power generation experience strongly preferred.
Licensing & Certifications
- Must maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card in good standing status.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state-issued driver’s license in good standing and agree to continuous record monitoring.
