Field Robotics Engineer

Location: Oxford, UK | Hybrid / Remote

Join an innovative robotics company working at the intersection of hardware, software, sensing, and real-world autonomy. As a Field Robotics Engineer, you’ll take ownership of customer deployments, bridging engineering teams and live field environments to ensure robotic systems are successfully integrated, commissioned, and optimized.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead robotics deployment projects from technical planning through completion.
  • Commission, integrate, test, and troubleshoot robotic systems on customer sites.
  • Act as the primary technical contact for customers, providing support and system training.
  • Diagnose complex hardware/software issues and optimize system reliability and performance.
  • Feed field insights back into R&D and Operations to improve tools, workflows, and deployment processes.
  • Work closely with engineering teams on system performance, testing, and continuous improvement.

Ideal Candidates Will Have

  • Degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Hands-on experience deploying, integrating, and debugging complex robotic hardware and software systems.
  • Strong practical experience with ROS / ROS 2, Linux, and Git.
  • Good working knowledge of C++ and Python.
  • Experience working directly with customers or in field engineering / commissioning environments.
  • Valid Category B driving licence and willingness to travel extensively across the UK and internationally.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with autonomous heavy machinery, off-highway vehicles, or construction robotics.
  • Knowledge of CAN bus, industrial communications, or vehicle networks.
  • Experience integrating LiDAR, GNSS, Radar, cameras, or other advanced sensors.
  • Background in autonomous systems, robotics deployment, field testing, or technical customer support.
