Alfa Laval is looking for a Field Sales Account Manager - Ocean Service UK & Ireland

Please note this is a remote position covering Scotland and North England. The ideal candidate should be located in this area.

Who you are

You are a people person and proven sales achiever with an ability to open doors and generate extra value in client relationships external customers. You possess first-class digital competencies and communication skills and combine these with a passion for customer success. This enables you to create significant and meaningful impact externally and in the wider organisation. You are a team player with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders across complex, multinational relationships by aptly applying relational skills. Because you are methodical and organised, with an eye for detail and excellent time-management, you can perform at a high level when there are multiple requests, contributing positively towards creating and growing a high performing and inclusive culture in the team.

About the Job

Working within the Ocean Division in the UK&Ireland Sales Company, as an Account Manager you will play a key role in promoting and selling Alfa Laval products and services. You’ll be one of the first points of contact for our customers, ensuring their needs are met with speed, accuracy, and a proactive approach. The successful candidate should be located in the UK, ideally in Northern England or Scotland. Due to the wide range of products and solutions that are offered by Alfa Laval, the exact nature of the tasks within the role will be varied.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Direct sales responsibilities, ensuring customer success for your assigned accounts, handling all activities from inquiry to order.
  • Generate and nurture leads, converting them into orders.
  • Focus on growth and development of assigned accounts
  • Driving and owning frame/fleet agreements to maximise efficiency and growth.
  • Collaborate with the other teams such as Business Development, P&A and Business Unit in order to grow the business.
  • Engage actively with the market, focusing on customer interactions, including regular in person engagement, understanding customer needs, and delivering product and service value.
  • Follow established sales processes and guidelines to promote and sell Alfa Laval products and services.
  • Develop value based quotes that reflect customer needs and highlight unique selling points.
  • Actively follow up on quotes to ensure the proposed value is understood and matches customer needs.
  • Provide direct support to customers during the quotation process.
  • Conduct regular account reviews, be present and active in the market, and aware of competitor activities with their customers.
  • Work proactively and in a structured manner within and across teams to optimise sales efficiency and improve customer experience.
  • Use CRM and other tools consistently and effectively to support the sales process and decision-making.

What You Can Bring:

  • Commercial or Merchant Marine industry knowledge or experience, or knowledge of equipment relevant to the marine industry.
  • Experience in field sales, account management, or a similar customer-facing role, with a proven track record of successful face-to-face customer engagement.
  • High digital competence including frequent usage of CRM systems and digital communication tools.
  • You understand technical products and can translate customer needs into value-based solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, comfortable communicating with individuals and teams, including at senior levels.
  • Strong communication skills in English.
  • Strong business acumen and a high attention to detail.
  • You know how to work collaboratively across teams to achieve sales goals.
  • A structured approach to managing tasks and priorities
  • Travel is part of the role within the UK & Ireland. We aim to plan travel in advance as much as possible and support a healthy work-life balance.
  • Technical education, such as a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field would be a benefit.
