Field Sales Engineer – Imaging & Photonics
Location: UK Field Based
Salary: £55,000 + 13.5% Performance-Related Bonus
Benefits: Company Car or Car Allowance, Pension, Life Assurance, Income Protection
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
The Opportunity
We are recruiting for an experienced Field Sales Engineer to join a specialist technology business operating within the imaging and photonics markets. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in imaging, cameras or thermal imaging who enjoys combining technical knowledge with business development and customer relationship management.
The company works with leading technology manufacturers and supports customers across sectors including defence, aerospace, scientific, industrial and advanced technology markets.
The Role
You will be responsible for developing existing accounts while identifying and winning new business opportunities. The role covers the full sales cycle, from identifying customer requirements and providing technical advice through to quotation, negotiation and closing.

- Work closely with customers, suppliers, and internal engineering teams to develop imaging solutions, including bespoke solutions where required.
- Build relationships with contacts ranging from R&D and engineering through to purchasing and senior management.
- Attend customer meetings and exhibitions, develop market opportunities, maintain accurate CRM information, and work towards agreed sales, margin, and business development targets.
About You
We are looking for a technically minded sales professional with experience in specialist imaging or camera technology. Ideally, you will have:
- Experience selling thermal imaging cameras, OEM cameras, or specialist imaging equipment.
- A technical qualification or background in electronics, electrical engineering, physics, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline.
- A proven track record in technical sales and new business development.
- Experience working with OEM or scientific customers and longer technical sales cycles.
- Strong customer and supplier relationship management skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and commercial skills.
- The confidence to work with both technical and senior commercial stakeholders.

Experience selling into defence, military, scientific, aerospace, or industrial markets would be particularly advantageous.
You will be ambitious, commercially driven, and comfortable working independently in a field-based environment. A full UK driving licence is required.
Package
The role offers a £55,000 basic salary plus 13.5% performance-related bonus, together with a company car or car allowance. Benefits include pension, life assurance, and income protection.
