Job Description

Who will you be working with?

We are seeking a Field Service Technical Advice Specialist to join Wabtec’s Freight Global Services team in Leeds. Role: Field Service Technical Advice Specialist

Location: Leeds

How will you make a difference?

As a Subject Matter Expert in the diagnosis and troubleshooting of PowerHaul (Class 70) locomotives, you will have the opportunity to undertake world-class technical training at our corporate training facility. This structured development programme will enable you to become certified in locomotive electrical fault-finding, system diagnostics, and maintenance best practices for our locomotive engines. Multiple levels of training and accreditation are available, providing clear opportunities to develop your expertise and progress your technical capabilities throughout your career.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Work within a small team based at the customer site, providing technical support and on-the-job training during maintenance activities.
  • Provide clear communication and technical guidance to customer production department and management to include troubleshooting, material assistance, tooling and / or locomotive status.
  • Analyse online performance data (local training will be provided).
  • Travel within the UK.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Ideally holding HNC or above in mechanical or electrical discipline. Equivalent experience in a Rolling Stock / Locomotive Maintenance environment will also be considered.
  • A high degree of mechanical and/or electrical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
  • A willingness to undertake technical product training.
  • Large Diesel engine maintenance experience would be beneficial.
  • Proficiency in MS office applications.
  • Experienced using a variety of electrical diagnostic equipment (Multimeter / Megger etc).
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Able to read basic electrical schematics.
  • Ability to interface at all levels of the organisation, both internally and externally.
  • Must possess a full UK Driving Licence.
