Job Description:
Hitachi Energy is seeking a highly organised, proactive, and results-driven Field Service Coordinator to support the delivery of field service operations across the UK. This role is responsible for coordinating resources, equipment, vehicles, and operational requirements to ensure the safe and efficient execution of transformer services, grid connection projects, commissioning activities, planned maintenance programmes, reactive maintenance, and emergency response work.
Working closely with Service Managers, Project Managers, Field Engineers, Procurement, and other key stakeholders, the successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring operational readiness and supporting the effective delivery of service commitments.
The position requires strong planning and organisational skills, with responsibility for both short-term scheduling and long-term resource forecasting across a diverse portfolio of High Voltage, Power Transformer, Distribution Transformer, and Grid Connection activities.
How you'll make an impact:
- Develop and maintain short-term and long-term resource plans to support service operations, project delivery, and business growth.
- Coordinate the deployment of field engineers, commissioning staff, and specialist subcontractors to meet customer and project requirements.
- Monitor resource utilisation and identify potential capacity constraints, skills gaps, and future recruitment requirements.
- Coordinate resources to support both planned maintenance activities and reactive service requirements, ensuring customer commitments, outage programmes, and emergency response obligations are effectively met.
- Act as a key point of contact for customers and internal stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and effective coordination of service activities.
- Raise and manage purchase orders in accordance with company procedures and approved budgets.
- Act as the primary liaison with the company's fleet management partner, ensuring vehicle compliance, maximising fleet availability, and minimising operational downtime to support service and project delivery requirements.
- Maintain records relating to fleet utilisation, costs, and asset performance.
- Ensure all service activities, resource allocations, and operational records are accurately maintained within company systems.
- Provide regular operational reporting and performance updates to management to support planning, forecasting, and continuous improvement activities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
