Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Field Service Engineer role based in Lancashire. The Field Service Engineer will carry out diagnostics, repair, and maintenance on Road Rail Excavators and related plant equipment at customer sites and in the workshop. Daily tasks include:

- Troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults
- Performing planned servicing
- Completing inspections
- Ensuring work complies with rail and construction industry standards

The role involves:
- Preparing accurate service reports
- Maintaining tools and equipment
- Communicating clearly with customers and the internal team about job status and technical findings
The engineer will also:
- Support upgrades and modifications
- Follow health and safety procedures
- Contribute to continuous improvement in service delivery
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical and hydraulic engineering skills, including experience with construction plant machinery and excavators.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve electrical and electronic faults on heavy equipment and rail-related machinery.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, hand and power tools, and following technical drawings and service manuals.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance requirements in the rail and construction industries.
- Relevant vocational qualification or apprenticeship in mechanical, electrical, or plant engineering (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
- Previous field service or maintenance experience in heavy plant, rail equipment, or similar engineering environment.
- Effective communication skills, customer-focused attitude, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites as required.
